Freyagushi
Clothing

www.freyagushi.com

Freyagushi is a designer label located in London. Born in 2002, when the designer Pinkindus
moved from France to UK. Freyagushi is a quality label founded by the belief
that clothing is a form of self-expression. Our deepest emotions can be expressed
through Fashion. It can also be portrayed as our own wearable art. Freyagushi’s
depicts beauty, while also portraying the duality of human beings. Beauty as
simplicity, but with an underlying sense of darkness, corruption and loss of
innocence. Many of Freyagushi’s creations combine nightmarish visions
of death and blood with the delicacy of lace and feminine shapes. The designer’s
combination of medical tools with sophisticated shape and detailing portrays
that;

“Nothing is as simple as beauty or pain, nothing is black or white, but
everything is a combination of both.

DreaMachine
Installations

The dreamachine (or dream machine) is a stroboscopic flicker device that produces
visual stimuli. William Burroughs close friend and artist Brion Gysin and mathematician
Ian Sommerville created the dreamachine in the early 1960s. The device flickers
light between 8 and 13 pulses per second, this frequency range corresponds to
alpha waves, electrical oscillations normally present in the human brain while
relaxing. A dreamachine is "viewed" with the eyes closed: the pulsating
light stimulates the optical nerve and alters the brain's electrical oscillations.
The "viewer" experiences increasingly bright, complex patterns of
color behind their closed eyelids. The patterns become shapes and symbols, swirling
around, until the "viewer" feels surrounded by colors. It is claimed
that viewing a dreamachine allows one to enter a hypnagogic state. This experience
may sometimes be quite intense, but to escape from it, one needs only to open
one's eyes.

Subjects
report dazzling lights of unearthly brilliance and color. ...Elaborate geometric
constructions of incredible intricacy build up from multidimensional mosaic
into living fireballs like the mandalas of Eastern mysticism or resolve momentarily
into apparently individual images and powerfully dramatic scenes like brightly
colored dreams.

- William S. Burroughs

WARNING
:
The dreamachine may be dangerous for people with photosensitive
epilepsy or other nervous disorders.

The
Orgone Accumulator

Orgone
energy is a term coined by psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich for the "universal
life energy" which he was convinced to have discovered in published experiments
in the late 1930s. Reich claimed that orgone energy was a "life energy"
which filled all space, was blue in color, and that certain forms of illness
were the consequence of depletion or blockages of the energy within the body.
The orgone accumulator was developed as a means to objectively capture this
energy from the atmosphere, and later was claimed to have both anomalous biological
and physical effects.

In 1940,
Wilhelm Reich constructed the first device to accumulate orgone energy: a six-sided
box constructed of alternating layers of organic materials (to attract the energy)
and metallic materials (to radiate the energy toward the center of the box).
Patients would sit inside the accumulator and absorb orgone energy through their
skin and lungs. The accumulator had a healthy effect on blood and body tissue
by improving the flow of life-energy and by releasing energy-blocks.

"The
orgone accumulator is an ordinary box big enough for a man to sit inside on
a chair: a layer of wood, a layer of metal, and another layer of wood gather
in orgones from the atmosphere and hold them captive long enough for a human
to absorb more than a usual share. According to Reich, orgones are vibratory
atmospheric atoms of the life-principle. People get cancer because they run
out of orgones. Old Bull thought his orgone accumulator would be improved if
the wood he used was as organic as possible, so he tied bushy bayou leaves and
twigs to his mystical outhouse. It stood there in the hot, flat yard, an exfoliate
machine clustered and bedecked with maniacal contrivances. Old Bull slipped
off his clothes and went to sit and moon over his navel.”

- Jack Kerouac,
On The Road

The study
of orgone was heavily supported and researched by William S. Burroughs. He believed
that the method in which orgone energy supposedly helped cure cancer-sick patients
could also help alleviate harsh withdrawal symptoms from heroin, which Burroughs
calls "junk sickness." Burroughs decided to build an accumulator of
his own. Burroughs writes about what occurred once he started using the accumulator:

“Constant use of junk of the years has given me the habit of directing
attention inward. When I went into the accumulator and sat down I noticed a
special silence that you sometimes feel in deep woods, sometimes on a city street,
a hum that is more rhythmic vibration than a sound. My skin prickled and I experienced
an aphrodisiac effect similar to good strong weed. No doubt about it, orgones
are as definite a force as electricity. After using the accumulator for several
days my energy came back to normal. I began to eat and could not sleep more
than eight hours. I was out of the post cure drag.”

In 1954,
the FDA issued a complaint for an injunction against Reich, charging that he
had violated the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by delivering misbranded and adulterated
devices in interstate commerce and by making false and misleading claims. The
FDA called the accumulators a sham and orgone-energy nonexistent. A judge issued
an injunction that ordered all accumulators rented or owned by Reich and those
working with him destroyed and all labeling referring to orgone-energy destroyed.
Reich did not appear in person at the court proceedings, defending himself by
letter. Two years later, Wilhelm Reich was in jail for contempt of the injunction,
the conviction based on

the actions of an associate who did not obey the injunction and still possessed
an accumulator. On November 3, 1957, Wilhelm Reich died in his jail cell of
a heart failure. In his last will and testament Wilhelm Reich ordered that his
works be sealed for fifty years, in hopes that the world would someday be a
place better to accept his wondrous machines.

THE
THEATRE OF ABSURD

Not recommend for the bourgeoisie - " In every age there is a spirit of
non-conformism - Dada embodied and continues to embody that spirit and will
never be confined by History" - Marcel Duchamp.

A very fascinating and involving performance engaging and 'dangerous' in an
Artaudian sort of way: I had no idea what to expect from moment to moment, with
'the fourth wall' well and truly dismantled and actors and audience in constant
flux, identities and borders blurred into a voluptuous synthesis"

- D.Thomas, London Surrealist Group reviews The Greatest ever Dada show
