10th Wednesday - Beyond the Free Market

Starting with a guerrilla field trip to new Covent garden market & culminating in a shared free meal. This workshop/presentation will explore free-market policies and their effects on the food trade, various trends within industrial food production & their alternatives using discussion, film & presentations by various people involved in the industry. All food consumed, will being entirely safe & intact, will have been deemed unfit to trade – illustrating some of the contradictions inherent in the system.

11th Thursday - Ad Busting – A culture jamming workshop

Beginning with an introduction and history of culture jamming by The Creative Hub, this workshop will explore the techniques and motivations of a growing number of subvertisers – those who use public billboards & advertisements as the basis of politicised urban art. Using ads around Kingston as their prospective canvasses, participants will be encouraged to explore the techniques and potential of this emerging art form and what it says about how we are advertised to. Guerrilla Zoo will take no responsibility for the misuse of theoretical information.

12th Friday - Urban Grooves Music Production Workshop

This workshop gives people a chance to explore making grooves from an
exciting range of sounds. Looking at some drum and percussion
techniques combined with cutting edge electronic equipment - drum
pads, samplers, laptop to create various grooves including drum and
bass, dance etc. Record some special Kingston sounds and then use them
to make your own original soundscapes and urban grooves. Enjoy the
great feeling of playing together with other people in a creative and
fun way. Suitable for anyone of any age.
Led by Graham 'DIDS' aka Gagarin - an incredibly experienced musician
and workshop leader who has played and recorded around the world. He
will be playing a set of his own Gagarin material in the evening.

14th Sunday – Soma Workshop (An experiment in anarchism)

Developed over 30 years ago in Brazil, Soma uses drama, sound and movement to create spontaneous group interactions. Conceived as both a therapeutic and a team building process for those involved in the struggle against Brazil’s military dictatorship, Soma has evolved away from a problem solving therapeutic process and into an exercise from the gaining of skills for communication and fitness for body & mind.

18th Thursday - Manga Film Screening

Screenings throughout the day of cult classics such as Akira and Ghost in a Shell 1 & 2, and new releases from IG Plus / Production I.G amongst many other legendary animated Manga films.

20th Saturday – Creative Writing with Rosy Carrick / *OPEN MIC NIGHT*
Rosy has been organising creative writing and poetry workshops at cornerstone centre in Hove, focusing on exercises, styles and techniques which can aid the development of a writer’s talent. Here she will be introducing and discussing these, as well as outlining trends which have emerged in modern literature in an informal setting while encouraging those who participate to experiment & gain a greater understanding of their creativity.

24th Wednesday – First Thought, Best Thought Creative Writing Workshop

London based poet Rob hill will be exploring spontaneity in this workshop subtitled
“Unlocking the Poetic Language of the Self.” By examining the effects of grammar
and linguistic convention on the organic form of language, and experimenting with
their removal, participants will be encouraged to create immediate, unedited,
impressionistic word sketches of the environment in and around the gallery. Releasing
the imaginative mind from the conscious process of sentence formation can provide
an interesting and useful illustration of the ways in which we relate perception to
image and how much we adapt our perspectives to suit the traditional forms of
communication.

25th Thursday – Graffiti Workshop
The Candie Bandit’s previous workshops have a great success. Students learn everything from the history of graffiti and street art, to how to make stencils and can control. She also talk about all the safety issues, from inhaling paint to standing on ladders to reach the high bits! She has previously involved local police to come and speak to the youths about punishment for graffiti which is followed up by a talk on how to make money from legal artwork by getting commissions or even teaching it too!
