MISSION CODE The direction and future of the project

A collective army of underground artists un-caged and exhibited to the public

Guerrilla – A member of an irregular, usually indigenous military or paramilitary unit operating in small bands in occupied territory to harass and undermine the enemy, as by surprise raids. Zoo – 1. An institution/facility in which living creatures are housed and exhibited to the public.
2. A place or situation marked by confusion or disorder

Guerrilla Zoo aims to start small, evolve and grow in order to deal with the development of ideas and to progressively adapt to our audience. Hence we will have the ability to nurture, develop and in turn evolve Guerrilla Zoo itself, by sharing a common ground with our audience.

As a collective Guerrilla Zoo aims to be an innovative, ambitious and collaborative working project, providing a positive and supportive environment to encourage participation. We aim to be an advocate for the importance and potential of arts and music in everyday life and the empowerment of sub-communities. We hope to play a vital role in giving artists a platform to an appreciative audience, without boundaries.

Our current objective is to create one-off conceptual spaces with cross-platform ideas, which revolve around an inventive central theme. We try to represent a London state of mind - Part art house, gallery, music hall, bar and social speakeasy/hang out.

Our events take on a form of exhibition mutating beyond traditional forms of galleries or stage. We promote original artists from varying fields, contemporary bands, support fringe performers, poets, short film makers, electronic acts, experimental works, vjs, subcultures, subverters, culture jammers, creative ideas and alternative thinkers.

We give artists a unique experience and provide support to exhibit and promote themselves, take risks with their work, gaining essential experience, along with meeting like-minded people.

We maintain a balance between different art forms and forms of artistic practice for growing underground communities. At Guerrilla Zoo events we mix new comers with professionals in order to offer each a platform and exposure to a new and largely varied audience.

We provide a space (online and off) for a social hub: for the flow of information around varied networks and underground movements. Guerrilla Zoo events are an approach into ideas of creative networking and participation. To help create links with people from all different creative backgrounds in London (and further afield), as a well needed resource for exchange of skills, contacts and collaborations amongst various communities.

Guerrilla Zoo aims to modifiy its online presence in several stages. We wish to publish unheard writers online, support artists with online resources, help and encourage members to explore and experiment with new ideas/media and to define, develop and pursue ideas with confidence.

We are encouraging, supportive and friendly! Supplying ideas, connecting contacts and opportunities, strengthening and expanding the group through proactive networking, by maintaining a support system and public platform for artists.
