Societe Perrier | 'Modern Panic III' Returns to Provoke and Inspire
If you’re looking for something to kick, perhaps even shock, your art-weary senses back into touch, Modern Panic III could be just the exhibition for you.
Assembled by James Elphick, from creative collective Guerrilla Zoo, the third instalment of Modern Panic will, as ever, feature a blend of surreal, provocative and outright controversial art in a range of mediums and live art performances.
Featured artists include taxidermist Charlie Tuesday Gates, mattress embroider Louis Riley, live body artist Nicola Canavan, Lady Gaga and Bat for Lashes designer Natasha Lawes, neo-Victorian illustrator Dan Hillier and notorious prisoner Charles Bronson.
Modern Panic III will also see the UK debut of the Dreamachine, a spinning, tubular device intended to create hallucinatory effects in the viewer (who actually ‘looks’ at the device through closed eyes) through patterns of flashing lights, designed by a friend of William Burroughs, a user of the device, as Kurt Cobain was alleged to have done.
Modern Panic III will be on display at Apiary Studios, London, from November 24 until December 2.

Modern Panic sees the coming together of 50 surreal, controversial and provocative international artists under one roof.
This is the third instalment of Guerrilla Zoo’s acclaimed Modern Panic exhibition and promises to be as eclectric and electric as ever.
Taking place at east London’s Apiary Studios from November 24 to December 2, and curated by James Elphick of Guerrilla Zoo, the show features everything from modern taxidermy, and insect flower sculptures to live body art and mattress embroidery.
To say it’s avant-garde is an understatement.
Among the artists on show are Lady Gaga and Bat for Lashes designer Natasha Lawes, and neo-Victorian illustrator Dan Hillier, epic fantasy illustrator Santiago Caruso and Charles Bronson!
It’s only £3 to get it, which by our rudimentary calculations, works out at about 6 pence per artist. A steal.
