From the 26th October until 9th November, The Cinema Museum in Elephant & Castle will be transformed into a dark and disturbing world. Witness the film unravel, lose yourself in the madness of haunted cinema and watch how its characters come to life around you with devastating consequences.
A mysterious fire consumes a Theatre. Fleeing the thickening smoke a band of performers escape to an unknown landscape. Victor, their writer, awakens in an amnesiatic state and becomes obsessed by the secret heart of his unfinished story. He journeys into dreamlike places, all the while haunted by visions from the infamous hum of the Strange Factory. Upon finding his troupe under the wing of an aristocratic noble he learns of the enigmatic Stronheim, who contractually offers to rebuild the theatre lost in the fire, but in return Victor must complete his story…
The ‘Strange Factories’ film tells the story of a world haunted by a phantasmagoric fiction. Exploring the visions, obsessions and powers of the creative urge, the film draws on the allure of the cinema and the wonder of the magic lantern-show. The film was crowd funded via IndieGoGo , produced by FoolishPeople and shot in the Czech Republic over Summer of 2011.
