Pascale Montandon
A visual artist and scenograph, born in Paris in 1972. The themes of her works are occupied with space and time, transience, fleetingness, connections between fragility and permanence. Through-out her visual and scenographic works, she’s always passionately focused on space and movement, through architectural rectangles and concentric forms.
Among her works as scenograph, she created the scenery and costumes of Carolyn Carlson’s last contemporary ballet. She also recently designed the reception of the company IMERYS’ head office.
Her work is regularly exhibited in gallery’s such as the Brun-Léglise in Paris and Fusion in Toulouse. Private collectors and theatres include the Aquarium in Car toucherie of Vincennes and the Roubaix’s National Centre of choreography. She’s always looking for new kinds of creation, between visual arts, scenography and design, joining and connecting each other ways of expression that converse and correspond.
It is natural and profoundly meaningful for me to extend my work as a plastician into scenography, thus bringing together forms of expression that, to my mind, meet and mirror each other".
"As a visual artist, I have always been concerned in my approach to the idea of what is concealed as it is built, something inherent in the music and the performing arts in record time. Visually my point is, inside the memory and the ephemeral, to try to express space and time, to keep track of what disappears."
Alejandro Jodorowsky says the following about Montandon’s art :
"A painting without a painter, an invisible bird flying into space, a visual song that does not spring from an individual, transpersonal, without limit, without ever dissolving world. Colour the original mysterious, necessarily ineffable first action, not a word, no sound, but an image perpetual in birth and death. Image is infinite bliss, the root of all life. By creating structures where each line is an abyss and every colour of the wings miraculous consciousness diurnal Pascale Montandon disappears into the shadows while her whispers without edge remain as recorded in the canvas at the center of our soul, with signs of invisible fire. Her paintings become light."
"Pascale Montandon, intrepid explorer, stern, incorruptible, plunged into the dark world by rejecting the temptation of material forms to represent living natures that are pure spirit. She expels us from the planet and we are rushed into the sublime heart of the cosmos. A place where desire and suffering disappears. Her paintings are a portrait of the soul, they tell us the divine perfection of the eternal. " - Alejandro Jodorowsky – 17th March 2009
